When reality strikes that the holidays are finally over, your wide smile can easily turn to upside down, particularly and mainly due to one thing: you know that you need to go back to work. It's hitting us all at the moment and we thought we'd put some ideas to keep yourself psyched and not let yourself be consumed by this gloom. Instead, pick yourself up and pump up your energy so you can get back to work with the enthusiasm and vigor that's going to achieve results.
How exactly are you going to do that? Here are some tips on how you can eradicate the back to work blues
- Maximise the remaining hours of your weekends: Do not spend the last few minutes of your weekends just wallowing over the fact that you will be returning to work the following day. This is plainly a waste of your time. Treat each weekend like a mini holiday - make sure you get some 'me' time to do some healthy things that relax you.
- Wake up early on your first day: Get to sleep early the night before and wake up early too! Open up the windows and enjoy the sunshine! If you are not in a rush you'll have sufficient time to enjoy your coffee, have a good breakfast, perfect your wardrobe and enjoy the scenic route to work.
- Exercise: You have probably heard this a million times before. However, there is nothing more effective than a good workout so you can sweat all your gloominess away. When you are physically uplifted, you can also boost your mental and emotional state.
- Have the right mindset: Instead of dwelling on the fact that the holidays are over, why not just focus on the idea that you are lucky to have experienced a short break from all the work? Highlight the good and not the bad but do not forget to accept the reality that you still need to be productive, earn money and do your job.
- Be organised: If you left your desk unkempt before you ran off for the holidays, it's time to fix that. Tidy up your desk and even your bag so you can easily access the things you need. This will reduce the stress on your first day back to work.
- Appreciate your work: Be grateful that you've got work that you need to go back to. Not everyone is given such an awesome opportunity.
We hope these little tips have helped you! Enjoy 2012
